In an increasing number of business parks and large buildings, having a fire extinguishing or retention pond is mandatory. These ponds act as a water buffer for the fire department in the event of a major fire and are filled with rainwater discharged from building roofs. To prevent overloading during heavy rainfall, the ponds slowly overflow into the regional drainage system.
The stagnant water in the retention pond is heated by the sun and often causes algae and odor problems in the summer. For public and commercial buildings, this is obviously not a desirable situation. Time for action!

Firefighters want water available at all times, even in winter
In emergencies, the fire department must always have quick access to water from the fire pond, even in winter. Freezing over is therefore not an option. Because our aeration fountains move huge volumes of water, ice formation never occurs in the ponds. In addition, the pumps are very reliable and suitable for continuous operation.
Evenementenhal Gorinchem
In front of the entrance to the Evenementenhal in Gorinchem is a beautiful example of a retention pond.
To keep the water moving as well as to better present the pond, 2 fountain aerators V-Flow 110 F have been installed. These have a beautiful chalice fountain with a diameter of 6 meters. The fountain height has been deliberately kept low to prevent water from spraying, so that visitors will never experience any inconvenience in strong winds.
A3rdAUGAmixer pump Flow 75 S, is used to keep the pond moving especially during the winter. This prevents the pond from freezing over, fulfilling the fire department’s requirement.
This makes the large water surface attractive, keeps it moving and is ice-free. All this with a total installed power of only 3 kW.
In the evening, the fountains are lit in any color with AUGA RGB LED underwater spotlights.
