Park Berg & Bos, owned by the Municipality of Apeldoorn, was constructed in 1934. It was a labor supply project in the crisis years of the 1930s. There was a water main at this site until the 19th century to supply water to the fountains and waterworks of Het Loo Palace, which is near the park.
The floating fountain installation in this park pond had been in operation for many years and consumed 50 kW of electricity per hour. In addition, the fountain had to be hoisted out of the park pond every year and transported for annual maintenance. As you can imagine, this fountain needed to be replaced!
The requirements? A dynamic & sustainable fountain
The Municipality of Apeldoorn went looking for a suitable alternative: this is where we came in. The requirements? Low power consumption, good maintenance and an eye-catching fountain image. We know what to do with that!

From 50 to 15 kW per hour & a fantastic fountain image
By using sustainable submersible pumps, minimizing pressure losses in the fountain system and using fountain heads with low water consumption, power consumption dropped dramatically to just 15 kW per hour. This includes the energy-efficient LED lighting. So many gains over the old fountain!
The massive center jet 15 meters high and 2 fountain rings with side directed jets create a voluminous and harmonious fountain image. In addition, the three fountain images alternate with each other, achieving the fountain scenario. For this we used three pumps. These are controlled by a simple program and can be changed as desired.
The new fountain fits in perfectly with the nostalgic Berg and Bos city park.

This is how to build a floating fountain
With a size of 3×3 meters and a height of less than one meter, this floating fountain set can be used in practically any water feature. The construction fits together like a kit and is extremely easy to transport and quick to assemble.
The large suction baskets ensure low cleaning intervals and can be very easily dismantled using a clamping system. This saves a lot of time with maintenance, which is now done on site – a significant maintenance saving compared to the old fountain.
The installation is now running for 3 years to the satisfaction of the municipality and the many visitors to the park, all objectives achieved!
