Water quality crisis looming?

Water quality crisis looming?

The quality of Dutch waters is in bad shape, with little prospect of improvement.

Between 2015 and 2021, water quality deteriorated in two of the three sites and has not improved in the last 2 years. This deterioration is mainly reflected in terms of temperature, water flora, the presence of pollutants, fish (both number and quality) and the presence of nitrogen and phosphorus. The excess of the latter two is mainly due to fertilization.

In particular, water in cities, parks, campgrounds and other recreational areas face recurring water quality problems during warm periods, which can even lead to swimming bans.
  • Stagnant – often shallow water – can be a source of nuisance as temperatures rise.
  • Warming water leads to oxygen depletion resulting in fish deaths.
  • Water that will stink, mosquito infestations and excessive algae growth.
We cannot solve all water problems, but there are plenty of situations we can handle with our compact, floating aerators and fountain aerators.

10 years ago AUGA started producing these plants. We have since gained a great deal of experience in successfully vitalizing public waters at municipalities, campsites, fishing associations and recreational parks.
